A rose is a rose is a rose - Installation de Maia Flore
A rose is a rose is a rose
De Maia Flore, installation 2018
After wandering between two continents for years, I continue the adventure of a movement. Far from a spectacular escape, I was wondering where and how I would find the desire of a movement, if this geographical exploration was to be limited to the territory of my body.
How the body is being moved? Assisted by a choreographer, my project began by a step aside I had to shift my habits in order to feel a movement and; let it go. I recorded this hypnotic state of the sensation in a studio, in this abstract space with a green background. All these improvisations gave me the material to a new form of researches between the still image and the body in movement.
In the installation, the visitor is guided through long veils to awake his senses, as in a ruffling tunnel that would peel off the layers. The light from the screen is calling the visitor to walk through the silken installation, where at this very moment of the meeting with the moving image, it may be the possibility of not thinking, recognizing nothing but only being in the moment. A strange relief before it goes away and the quest of searching had to start again.
